Is Dr. Emily Still With Dr. Pol In 2026? Current Clinic Status And Updates
(Note: If you are searching for Dr. Emily Thomas, the beloved veterinarian who featured prominently on the hit Nat Geo Wild reality television series "The Incredible Dr. Pol," this article addresses her current professional relationship with Dr. Jan Pol and the Pol Veterinary Services clinic.)
The landscape of rural veterinary medicine often shifts as practitioners evolve, relocate, and open independent practices. Fans of reality television veterinary shows frequently track the career trajectories of their favorite cast members, particularly when high-profile departures alter the dynamic of an established clinic. Understanding the current status of veterinary professionals requires separating television narratives from real-world clinical operations, especially as the industry stands in 2026.
The Evolution of Pol Veterinary Services and Staffing
Pol Veterinary Services, located in Weidman, Michigan, has served Isabella County and surrounding agricultural communities for decades. Founded by Dr. Jan Pol and his wife Diane, the practice gained international fame through the television series "The Incredible Dr. Pol." Over the seasons, the clinic has welcomed and trained numerous associate veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff members to handle the crushing volume of large and small animal emergency calls.
Associate veterinarians typically join established mixed-animal practices to gain intensive, hands-on surgical and diagnostic experience before charting their own professional futures. The high-stress, high-demand environment of a bustling rural veterinary hospital often serves as a launching pad rather than a permanent career-long destination for many practitioners.
Dr. Emily Thomas: Departure Timeline and Independent Practice
Dr. Emily Thomas joined Pol Veterinary Services as a fresh graduate in 2015, quickly capturing the affection of viewers through her calm demeanor, surgical precision, and compassionate approach to challenging farm calls. However, Dr. Emily officially parted ways with Dr. Pol and the television show back in 2019.
Her departure was driven by a desire for a healthier work-life balance, geographic relocation, and the opportunity to practice veterinary medicine on her own terms. Since leaving the Weidman clinic, Dr. Emily has established deep roots in Virginia, where she continues to practice veterinary medicine, manage her own household, and engage directly with her patient community through digital platforms and independent veterinary consulting.
As of 2026, she maintains no active clinical partnership, employment contract, or professional affiliation with Dr. Jan Pol or Pol Veterinary Services in Michigan.
