Understanding the MGM Yonkers Raceway 2026 Racing Schedule
MGM Yonkers Raceway operates a robust live racing calendar throughout the year. Knowing the operational cadence ensures you never miss a post time or a major stakes event.
- Standard Live Racing Days: Typically, live racing is conducted Monday through Friday, with post times usually scheduled for 7:00 PM Eastern Time.
- Seasonal Adjustments: Summer and autumn cards may feature modified post times to accommodate major stakes programs and broadcast schedules.
- Simulcast Operations: When live racing is dark, the simulcast pavilion remains open daily, allowing patrons to wager on tracks across North America, including major thoroughbred and harness venues.
- Major Stakes Events: The 2026 season features high-profile fixtures such as the Yonkers Trot and the Aria International, drawing top-tier equine athletes and Hall of Fame drivers to Westchester County.
Navigating the Race Card: Key Metrics and Track Biometrics
Analyzing a Yonkers race card requires familiarity with the unique physical characteristics of the half-mile oval. Unlike sweeping mile tracks, Yonkers places a heavy emphasis on early gate speed and tactical positioning.
- Track Geometry: The half-mile layout features tight turns and short stretches. Inside post positions (1 through 4) historically hold a distinct statistical advantage because horses do not have to cover as much ground on the turns.
- The Passing Lane: Yonkers features a passing lane (the "languedoc" or inside lane) in the stretch, which mitigates the disadvantage of trailing horses trapped along the rail, though front-runners still dominate under typical track variants.
- Track Variants: Weather conditions heavily impact racing times. Always check the track condition report—ranging from fast to sloppy—before locking in your wagers.
2026 Yonkers Wagering Menu & Minimum Stakes
| Bet Type | Minimum Stake | Difficulty | Strategic Approach |
|---|---|---|---|
| Win / Place / Show | $2.00 | Low | Ideal for beginners; focus on consistent class droppers from inside posts. |
| Exacta | $1.00 | Moderate | Pick the top two finishers in exact order; key a strong favorite over multiple value horses. |
| Trifecta | $0.50 | High | Select the top three finishers; use wheel or box structures to cover tactical speed. |
| Pick 4 / Pick 5 | $0.50 | Very High | Multi-race wager requiring deep ticket construction and identifying potential longshot upsets. |

Expert Handicapping Strategies for Tonight's Card
Winning at Yonkers Raceway tonight demands a shift from traditional thoroughbred handicapping. Harness racing relies heavily on class drop analysis, driver-trainer combinations, and recent race lines rather than long layoffs.
Evaluating Class and Recent Form
Look closely at the class levels (notated by claiming prices or conditioned classes like NW7500L5). A horse dropping down in class from a tougher company often rebounds immediately. Furthermore, examine the last three race lines in the program. Look for consistent final quarter-mile (28 seconds or faster) closing speed, which indicates a horse rounding into peak fitness.
The Significance of Drivers and Trainers
At Yonkers, a select group of catch-drivers and high-volume trainers dominate the colony. Pay attention to stables that win at a high percentage on the local oval. A top-tier driver steering a horse from post position 2 or 3 commands immense respect, even if the morning line odds are moderately low.
Equipment Changes and Lasix
Check the program notes for vital equipment adjustments. Additions of Lasix, changes in hobbles, or the removal of overhead checks can dramatically alter a horse's performance. Trainers often signal intent through these equipment modifications.

Planning an in-person visit to MGM Yonkers Raceway requires understanding the venue's layout, dress code, and local access.
